Hello! My name is Charles Boswell. I am an Art Education major which is a K-12 certified program. I plan to teach at the secondary level. My emphasis area is painting though I also have experience in digital media, ceramics, 2-D graphic design and 3-D design (woodworking, sculpture, paper craft, fabric, found object). I also have a real fondness for jewelry making and metalsmithing and have created many pieces of jewelry both through fabrication and lost-wax casting. I graduated from Grand Rapids Community College in 2015 with an Associates of Arts. I transferred to Grand Valley State University to complete my degree in Art Education and I am currently in my final year.
When I'm not making art or preparing for my future career as a teacher, I like to spend time with my wife watching shows, playing video games or going out. My hobbies include nature walks and observation, fishing, camping, journaling and reading. I occasionally make time to play a video game or board games with friends. Fun Fact: My wife and I have worked at GenCon for the last 4 years with a company called Gaming Paper LLC. GenCon is the largest gaming convention in the U.S. For the last two years I taught a class on how to design maps using isometric perspective.
I have a lot of experience with technology. I've been using computers since the early 90's with DOS. I've used PowerPoint presentations in the classroom as well as generating quizzes with Kahoot! to promote student engagement. I've also used blogspot to create a blog describing the process and tools used to generate different photo manipulation effects in photoshop, how to create flash videos and some of the methods and resources available for filming short videos including the use of green screen. I've used film and video for documentation and published videos on YouTube as a resource for students and instructors.
